Responding to the Freedom Industries chemical spill
the WV House of Delegates will be holding a public hearing on SB373, the bill to begin regulation of chemical storage tanks in WV, at 5:30 pm on Monday, Feb. 3 in the House Chamber.
Here is the link to the notice at the Legislature’s Bulletin Board.
If this public hearing is like most at the Legislature, individuals will be able to speak for short periods of time, if they sign up at the hearing. Once again, this is a really good chance to speak directly to the people who make the laws that regulate the coal and chemical industries in our state.
Citizens Actively Protecting the Environment is holding a legislative advocacy training tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 31 from 6pm to 8 pm at the Unitarian Unversalist Church at 520 Kanawha Blvd West in Charleston.
Citizens can be very effective at the Legislature, but you have to know what works and what doesn’t. It is important that you attend trainings like this to learn how to do citizen lobbying right.
